Contrast therapy is an intentional practice of moving between heat and cold. At Stone + Soul, this typically includes sauna, cold plunge, and rest. This rhythm supports circulation, recovery, and nervous system balance — encouraging the body to adapt, reset, and restore.

Before your visit, take a moment to check in with your body and choose an experience that feels supportive for you. All sessions at Stone + Soul are optional and self-guided within a calm, intentional environment.
For contrast sessions, we recommend arriving well-hydrated and eating lightly beforehand. Move at your own pace, take breaks as needed, and step out of heat or cold if anything feels uncomfortable. Listening to your body is always the priority.
For breathwork and sound sessions, hydration is also encouraged. Wear comfortable clothing and plan to settle in. You’re welcome to bring your own mat, blanket, or pillow for added comfort, or use what we have available in the studio. Deep relaxation or emotional release can be a natural part of these experiences.
If you have any health concerns, are pregnant, or are unsure whether a session is right for you, we encourage you to consult your healthcare provider beforehand.
Above all, trust yourself—there’s no right or wrong way to experience Stone + Soul. Your comfort, safety, and presence come first.

Listening to Your Body
The most important principle at Stone + Soul is to listen to your body. Every body is different, and your experience should always feel supportive—not forced.
During sauna use, signs that your body may need a break can include tingling in the fingers, ears, or skin, feeling lightheaded, or changes in breathing. While research suggests that 10–15 minutes at a time in the sauna is often sufficient for benefits, your comfort and awareness matter more than the clock. Over time, many guests naturally become more acclimated to heat, but rest and hydration are always encouraged.
With cold plunge, move gently and intentionally. Exit the water if you experience intense shivering, discomfort, rapid heart rate, or difficulty breathing. Research suggests that 1-3 minutes of cold exposure can be effective, and we recommend limiting individual plunges to no more than 5 minutes.
At every step, you’re encouraged to honor your limits, take breaks, and participate in a way that feels safe and grounding for you.

Contrast Therapy
If you have cardiovascular disease, cardiac arrhythmia, significantly high or low blood pressure, fever, cancer, skin disorders, blood clots, varicose veins, or respiratory infections, sauna use may not be appropriate for you.
Cold plunge may not be recommended for individuals with untreated heart conditions, coronary artery disease, chest pain, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or cardiac arrhythmias.
If you are pregnant, or if you’re unsure whether sauna or cold plunge is right for you, we strongly encourage you to consult with your healthcare provider before participating.
Breathwork and Sound Bath
Breathwork and sound therapy are powerful tools for relaxation and nervous system support, but they may not be appropriate for everyone. Guests with a history of seizures, severe asthma, panic disorders, bipolar disorder, psychosis, or unresolved trauma are encouraged to consult a healthcare professional before participating.
Those who are sensitive to sound, prone to dizziness, or taking medications that significantly affect mood or consciousness should also consider whether these practices are right for them.
